Dar Hamadi
بن جامع
[edit]

A Villa & its swimming pool are looking for artists in residence.

Hamadi, had imagined his house ahead of his time, to be autonomous, resilient, passive & bioclimatic...

Dar Hamadi بن جامع is a villa with a swimming pool, always unfinished since 1984, in permanents renovations, looking for applications from artists in residence, to revive his life's work, with a participatory site for its renovation & a contribution freely set by guests.

Now an artists residence, while remaining a family home, its swimming pool & permaculture garden are maintained all year round.

The basement is dedicated to the hackerspace, the first floor for community exchanges and the second floor for residencies.

Request a stay at Dar Hamadi بن جامع[edit]

Since May 2023, Dar Hamadi بن جامع is a collective of multidisciplinary artists, both artistic experimentation space, performance hall, exhibition gallery, associative tea house and location of the neighborhood. Evolving between piracy and diplomacy, it was first Hamadi's بن جامع house, a family home, before opening up to a community of crew members on board, while remaining a family home.

Dar Hamadi بن جامع has the first objective of meeting space needs for free and accessible creation. By creation, we mean everything that contributes, in a free and non-dogmatic way to enrich the soul, to realize its dreams, to see life from an original angle, to produce meaning and collective referents that can radiate. Our action aims to be pragmatic, evolving, linked to the context and the environment. Dar Hamadi بن جامع is now an unfinished collective construction which is accomplished every day, a friendly place of meetings and exchanges where a human adventure is written. Cultural and social engine within the neighborhood, it invites members to share their experiments with an alternative lifestyle.

Dar Hamadi بن جامع offers to welcome in residence, for a period from one week to three months, an artist looking for human and creative exchanges. You can offer the project of your choice, alone or not, all the techniques are accepted. Your project can be part of a wider, already advanced research or you can take advantage of this residence to build your project from A to Z or develop an emerging idea.

It is also a human adventure, because the project that we build, every day, could not live without the different energies, desires and meetings developed within the place. You will come across people from all walks of life, with different characters, it's up to you to be adaptive. We organize this residence with the idea of creating new meetings and proposing to the resident to discover our self-managed functioning, the artist must therefore be autonomous, show initiative and participate in the collective project by giving a little time to various activities organized in the place.

You will occupy light spaces with large offices in shared workshops, with windows and water points. A member on board will be your referent for any questions. No equipment is provided but you will have access to common work areas punctually according to your needs (outdoor wood workshop, sewing and sculpture workshop and painting workshop). We ask for a monthly participation at the cost at a cost price.

At the end of the deadline, the artist must present a rendering of residence in the form of a performance exhibition or other. This rendering can be coupled with an event at Dar Hamadi بن جامع

Your application must include :[edit]

  • A quick description of your project,
  • Visuals of what you have already done,
  • A short organic or a CV.

Send it to dar dot hamadi at kangoulya dot org

Selection criteria :[edit]
