Please Read This
This event is a QUESTS event, i.e a QUB Society. We love having people who can float in and out, but the fact is that the only way we can get funding to start growing is from the university (and from you guys), and to do that we need to get more strict about membership fees.
The reason we can run this event is with the kind cooperation of QUB DragonSlayers. Our arrangement with them is that members of QUESTS can get into the DS24 event and vice versa for the same member rate of £5.
To be able to take advantage of that price you must be a current, signed up, member of QUESTS Which means:
- £3 for QUB Students
- £5 for Associates (Non-QUB)
Bringing our 'show up on the day' totals to:
- £8 for QUB Students
- £10 for Associates (Non-QUB)
After which all subsequent events you attend will be at the lowest possible rate, regardless of whether you are QUB or not.
If this is not clear ahead of time, please ask --Bolster 16:13, 5 October 2011 (CEST)
Project Ideas[edit]
Mendeley API Experiments[edit]
--Bolster 13:41, 5 October 2011 (CEST) Going to have a play with the Mendeley Academic Referencing API, with a hope to develop a 'dependency graph' for academic papers
Ludum Dare - Games Programming[edit]
--Thegrieve 14:18, 5 October 2011 (CEST) I'll be working on my October Challenge project, "Landlocked", a tile-based puzzler in AS3 with Flashpunk. The October Challenge is an extension of the typical Ludum Dare competition, where participants are encouraged to make the leap from Hobbyist to Professional, by completing a game over a month, taking it to market and earning at least $1.
Ericsson Widget Awards[edit]
Linkage Competition to develop Mobile Widgets for Opera Mobile SDK 15000 EUR prize Requires registration
Inspiration from the Global Hackathon Challenges?[edit]
International Hackathon[edit]
Unfortunately we miss it this time around.
Hackers-Near-Space[edit]
- Development of a weather balloon / rocket based remote camera (similar to this [1]) - Bolster
- Android App + Casing?
- Testing after the event?
Android App Development[edit]
Michael Allen - I worked on the NI Rail Android app and would be up for hackathoning an Android app with anyone who'd be interested. We can brainstorm at the event and pick the best idea.
Ideas:
- Android Tablet Manga Reader (no decent ones in my opinion)
- Bus Times
- add more please
If you want to add anything here, go ahead!
