Genspace NYC is the first community biotech lab in the country! (at least one that's open and functioning anyway ;)

We've already run a number of introductory molecular biology and synthetic biology courses for the public, where people extracted and scanned through their own genes for SNP mutations, cloned section of their own genome into bacteria, sequenced HV regions of their own mitochondrial DNA, designed genetic circuits for turning e.coli into radiation sensitive biosensors, running DNA barcoding program to document the unique urban ecology around NYC area, and etc etc. The list goes on.

We're always on the lookout for cool collaboration opportunities with hackerspaces world-wide. Feel free to drop us an email or @ via twitter anytime!
