At the End of Growth, a remediation plan is called for and the creation of post-industrial Transition Communities. This remediation plan is for America, but pertains to Europe and any country which has traded with America.
The Age of Growth is over. Peak Oil has hit and Peak Energy looms on the horizon. Population growth will slow as sterility and education rises, eventually reaching a plateau and moving downwards as humanity gets in balance with it`s own planet. In addition, all the wealth made by the exploitation of labor and Earth has to be redeemed.
These immediate actions are suggested to be cut and/or drastically scaled-down:
- professional sports
- cable television
- military
- federal interstate system
Reform:
- education
- medicine
- local governments: institute fractional voting after some interim term requiring 50% turnout for an elected leader and only a simple majority.
- commercial banking towards a true economy
- waste management and environmental standards
