We are a member-run maker space for art and technology collaboration in downtown Toronto. Visit us on Thursday Open Nights (7-10pm).
Questions about who we are, what we’re making, events, exhibitions, open nights? Get involved and join the Facebook group. Want announcements? Follow us on Twitter: @site3coLab or fan site3colab facebook page.
The vision for the Site 3 coLaboratory is to have a space that will promote a four step cycle of create – display – teach – inspire.
Create: A workspace which provides members with access to tools and equipment for working on projects. Some of the tools we have include:
- A large metal lathe, a medium sized lathe, and a tiny watchmaker’s lathe
- A manual mill
- 60W CO2 CNC laser
- Two-axis CNC mill
- An industrial sewing machine (Adam sez: “sews through leather like a hot knife through butter!” Carl sez: “It has two speeds: fast and very fast”)
- A MakerBot 3D printer
- Drill press
- Power tools galore: Skil saws, table saw, scroll saw, band saw, etc.
- More Dremels than you can shake a stick at
- Any hand tool you could want
- Many Weller WES50/WESD51 soldering stations, and electronics/soldering tools
- Electronics bench power supply, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
- Stained glass working equipment
- Pipe wrenches, plumbing equipment, propane tanks, and other crazy flame effects gear (we like fire)
Display: A gallery space for hosting regular events where members can display and promote projects.
Teach: A classroom space for hosting regular events where members and guests can share their skills and learn from each other.
Inspire: Site 3 exists to develop a community of people interested in making awesome things and promoting the entire cycle.
As a member-run organization, in addition to having access to the space, members have the responsibility of keeping it going: running classes, helping with fundraisers, gallery nights, and other events, and working on community projects.
Site 3 is a registered Ontario non-profit corporation (Site 3 coLaboratory Centre for Art and Technology, Ontario Corp. 1806341).
