Oxford reached our first goal: that of creating a hack space for the hacking needs of our diverse, creative and talented maker community. We are now open around 50+ hours each week where we can make, break and repair our creations, learn new skills, inspire and get inspired in the company of like-minded people.
Oxford Hackspace underwent a revival in Summer 2012, with new people involved as well as some from before. In November 2012 we began negotiating for a permanent for a studio space. In March 2013 we became incorporated as group and started taking memberships. In July 2013 after extensive negotiation we moved into a studio within OVADA in the centre of Oxford We were open for over 50 hours a week and at busy times had 20+ people turn up We were doing some interesting technology projects such as: Quadcopters, a warning system for flooding, biohacking strawberrys. In September 2016, we moved to our new location in the basement of science oxford where we provided a place for all your maker needs for over two years! We have (under lock and key) 3D printers, tools, fabric bonding devices... Wherever your interest lies, this is a space to do it. You're always welcome to do your own thing or take part in workshops. The more diverse our group, the more stuff you learn.
Unfortunately, as of April 2018, we no longer have physical premises, this may change in the future and updates will be posted, but for the moment you are welcome to join us for social nights, the location of which will be announced via our twitter.
