Welcome to Dim Sum Labs, Hong Kong's hackerspace!
Please join us - public meetings are on Tuesdays at 8pm (we call it HackJam). Bring your hacks, expertise, ideas, questions. Meetings are informal and newcomers are always welcomed (plenty of people just come on Tuesdays and aren't paying members, though we do ask for a donation). There is often someone at our Labs during the day (especially weekends) and after work too. Join us on Tuesdays to see what it's all about.
The space is well equipped with general tools, electronics parts & Arduinos, networking gear PCs (most of which run Linux, naturally), Laser cutter, 3d printer (if you can figure out how to use it - we struggle, it needs Windows!) and a CNC machine.
Our members' projects have included: Walkman guitar amp, molecular gastronomy, building a RepRap (and soon to be, we hope, its cheaper and better competitor), Kinect controlled helicopter, Maneki-Neko cat-bot, Bao-bot (walking version of our logo), steampunk wifi bandwidth meter, bristle bots, Tweet-a-shock, baby melo-tweet, Arduino Game of Life, OpenWRT and router hacking, brain machines, EL wire hacks, air quality measurement, Frankenstein Z80-meets-FPGA computer, hydroponics, movie special effects, Octopus/RFID door lock epic fail, Mintyboosts for the Japan quake, Pachube and environmental monitoring, and more...
We welcome all geeks, techies, artists, designers, creatives, hackers and makers. Our members include expats and locals, English and Chinese are spoken (plus occasionally German, French, Afrikaans and others).
